Craig Ballard Appointed Chief Executive Officer of Battery Direct Inc.

Calgary AB, CANADA: May 20, 2011-  Battery Direct Inc. announced today that Mr. Craig Ballard has been named as their new Chief Executive Officer.  Ballard has a proven track record in building and growing successful enterprises and driving innovation and competitive advantage as an entrepreneur and executive.

Ballard's wealth of experience includes being the founder and former CEO of Logistechs Inc.  which he built into a leading provider of spare part inventory management and financing services to the commercial airline industry.  More recently with KPMG, Ballard has helped a variety of companies with strategy, operations, and technology.  Ballard has also held management positions at GE Commercial Finance and Ryder Integrated Logistics. While working with Ryder as the Lead Logistics Provider for General Motors in Canada, Ballard helped lead a major JIT Supply Chain transformation.

Ballard will focus on expanding distribution, driving global marketing, and developing Battery Direct's National Team to best serve the needs of its growing customer base.  He will also be responsible to  ensure that customer priorities, values, and experiences continue to be at the center of the company’s development.

Calgary AB, For Immediate Release:  National Battery Direct Charity Toque Program Raises much needed funds for Local Charities.

Employees of Battery Direct are taking to the streets throughout December to spread holiday greetings to their customers by donating money to charity as part of their corporate giving program.

Battery Direct Branches across Canada have participated in a charity toque program, with $4 from every toque gifted to their customers is being donated to a local charity. Over $7000 has been raised with the program thus far, and will be distributed to needy charities in the communities where Battery Direct employees live and work.

The Charity Toque donation tally continues to grow from the initial goal of $6800 as Battery Direct customers embrace the idea and have also made additional donations to the local charities in support of the Battery Direct Branch chosen charities.

“We wanted to develop a program that provided a good opportunity to give back to the local communities in which we live and work. We are very pleased with the enthusiasm that our customers have shown in support of our idea, showing the true spirit of community at this time of year,” says Shawn Sauer, President of Battery Direct Inc.

A number of charities have noted that this has been one of the most difficult years on record. A number of charities rely on the generosity of local community members during the fall and winter holiday seasons to manage.
